Flat Doors V Shaker Doors

Currently designing for a customer who wants to freshen up their large family kitchen.

She wants to see a modern and traditional take on the design. My first question was flat doors or shaker...?

With flat doors and her budget there is a larger choice of colours, however I don't feel the simplicity of the door fronts does this grand room much justice and their modern feel is lost in this colour palette. 

I feel the shaker doors are much more in keeping with the 'big warm family kitchen' look she wants to achieve. The soft colours are enhanced by the shaker detailing but they are still not too overpowering next to the ornate cornicing.
